Kentucky Country Music is a collection of stories, interviews, road trip adventures, reviews, and more from Jessica Bray. The Laurel County native has had over 20 years of experience in journalism, exploring Kentucky’s rich history, as well as the musical styles of Appalachian, Bluegrass, and Country. Jessica Bray is a Kentucky Colonel, one of the highest honors bestowed upon the Governor of Kentucky.
As a student at Berea College, Jessica Bray did interviews and research papers on Kentucky’s music history. She was student editor of Appalachian Heritage Magazine, as well as a student photographer/writer for the Pinnacle Newspaper and Chimes Yearbook. Bray also worked at the Berea College Appalachian Center, where she assisted in organizing the Celebration of Traditional Music Festival. She also produced an album of the history of Appalachian Music for the Appalachian Heritage magazine.
Jessica Bray’s literary work, as well as photography, have appeared on Examiner.com, AXS.com, GAC.com, Sentinel-Echo, WLEX, The News Journal, and Corbin Times Tribune. Her interviews have included members of the Kentucky Music Hall of Fame, Country Music Hall of Fame, Grand Ole Opry, and many more. She has provided coverage on the red carpet at Unbridled Eve Derby Eve Event, Kentucky Music Hall of Fame Induction Ceremonies, Lexington Walk of Stars Event, Country Music Highway, and more.
You can hear Jessica Bray do the Nashville News Roundup on WFKY out of Frankfort, KY on the air, online, and via I-phone app. Her segment airs on Friday mornings just after 9:00 a.m.
Beyond music, Bray and her husband enjoy attending car shows with one of their 8 Volkswagens, as well as antiquing, genealogy, exploring Kentucky history, and spending time with family.
